📚 Community Wiki & Guide Management
Create • Edit • Share Knowledge
The Universal Gaming Wiki is a place for sharing knowledge, creating helpful guides, and building a collection of resources for the community.
Whether you're updating an existing guide or creating something entirely new, the wiki provides tools to help keep information organized, accessible, and up to date.
🛡️ 1. Who Can Edit the Wiki?
Wiki editing permissions are limited to authorized accounts to help maintain the accuracy and quality of community information.
The following accounts can edit the wiki:
Developers: Have permission to create, edit, and manage wiki pages.
Administrators: Have permission to create, edit, and manage wiki pages.
Individually Authorized Accounts: Developers can grant wiki editing permissions to individual accounts through Community → Account Permissions.
Important Permission Information:
Wiki editing permissions are separate from community moderation and hosting administration.
Having moderator permissions or hosting administration access does not automatically grant wiki editing privileges.
✏️ 2. Create or Update a Wiki Guide
Authorized editors can create new wiki pages or make changes to existing guides.
Creating a New Page
Navigate to the Wiki Directory.
Select Create Wiki Page.
Enter a descriptive page title.
Provide a short summary explaining the page.
Add your content to the page editor.
Preview your work before saving.
Editing an Existing Page
If you want to update an existing guide:
Navigate to the wiki page you want to change.
Select Edit This Page.
Make the necessary changes.
Preview your updated content.
Save your changes when finished.
Page Address Guidelines
New wiki pages use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens in their web addresses.
For example:
server-rules
getting-started
community-guidelines
If you rename an existing page, its original web address will remain unchanged.
Wiki Formatting Tips
You can organize your content using simple formatting rules:
Leave a blank line between paragraphs.
Start a line with # to create a main heading.
Start a line with ## to create a smaller heading.
Always use the preview feature to check how your content will appear before publishing.
📝 3. Drafts & Revisions
Universal Gaming's wiki includes draft and revision features to help editors manage content safely.
Saving a Draft
Not every page needs to be published immediately.
Uncheck Published to save your work as a draft.
Draft pages are only visible to authorized wiki editors.
You can return to your draft and continue editing at a later time.
Publishing & Updating Guides
When your content is ready:
Select Published to make the page available.
Save your changes to publish a new guide or update an existing one.
Edit History & Restoring Previous Versions
The wiki automatically maintains a history of saved revisions.
This allows editors to:
Review previous versions of a guide.
Retrieve content from an earlier revision.
Restore previous content by copying an earlier revision into the editor and saving it as a new revision.
This makes it easier to recover information if changes need to be reversed.
⚠️ Important: Editing Conflicts
If another editor saves changes before you do, the wiki may reject your outdated save to prevent one person's work from overwriting another's.
If this happens:
Do not close or discard your current editor session.
Copy your work somewhere safe.
Reload the wiki page to retrieve the latest version.
Review the changes made by the other editor.
Merge your work with the updated content.
Save your changes again.
Always make a backup of your work before reloading a page after an editing conflict.
🌟 Final Reminder
The Universal Gaming Wiki is a shared resource for our community. Please keep guides accurate, organized, informative, and easy to understand.
Before publishing, take a moment to review your work and make sure the information is helpful to the players who will use it.
